Why athelets shouldnt be paid.

In this article we are going to explain some arguments that support the idea that athelets shouldnt be payed. We think that athletes shouldnt receive a payment for many reasons, but there are three specific reasons that we think that are the most important ones. I hope that this article really helps you to understand our point of view.

The first argument is based on the recent change that says that amateur athletes can participate on the Olympic Games. Amateurs have a secure income because they work or study, so in this case, it is not fair that they receive additional financial help. They practice the sports as a hobby, so, why should they be payed for having fun? In the other hand, professionals usually dont work. They need a payment to have a good lifestyle, but because amateurs dont receive this help, professionals shoulnt receive it either. They are the ones that choose the path of their lifes, and they should know what this implice.

Also, many people think that college athletes are treated as slaves. This is not true because they receive scholarships and many other benefits that other college students dont receive. They have more than enougth benefits, and a little bit of disipline helps, it doestn harm. In general atheltes shouldnt receive a payment.

Most famous athletes do get paid but unknown athletes usually don’t. Athletes that are not paid can’t train enough to win a gold medal in the Olympics. Also athletes that are not paid don’t have enough money to eat and be healthy for the Olympics. That’s why all athletes should get paid for their effort in the Olympics.

Why Athletes Should be Paid

Most famous athletes do get paid but unknown athletes usually don’t. Athletes that are not paid can’t train enough to win a gold medal in the Olympics. Also athletes that are not paid don’t have enough money to eat and be healthy for the Olympics. That’s why all athletes should get paid for their effort in the Olympics.

For most olympic athletes the only source of income they get comes from sponsorship but only the top well known ones get paid sufficiently. This is unfair to lesser known athletes. Athletes spend all their time training and don't have enough time to have a job so their income should come from winning medals at the olympics.

Recently some countries have started to pay money to athletes who win medals in the olympics. Canada is paying their athletes for bronze they will get 10,000, for silver 15,000, and for gold 20,000 . Other countries such as Russia and the US will start to pay their athletes as well. The prize money is a reward for all the hard work during training and besides provides financial support for olympic athletes

Athletes shouldn't be paid

There are two points of view about athletes being paid. For example if they are young studying they shouldn’t really be paid because they are still maintained by their parents. But instead the ones who have put their life into that, left college, leave other opportunities, etc. Should deserve a salary. Other types of athletes that should really be payed are the ones who need to sustain a family and their sport is the only thing that they have for survival. Also the other that should be paid should be the "PROS" because they have worked so hard to get to that point that they should be recompensed with a payment. but like this new law of” amateurs also can go to the Olympics” has a big issue in this theme. And also by leaving their work life and moving unto the sport one, leaves tons of good college opportunities behind. But like most of the athlehtes have chosen their way to have the easy life, they really shouldn’t be payed. And besides it’s a sport and its enjoy full for them.

Athletes Salary

Athletes should be paid because training soccer, football, tennis, hockey, etc is his career. A person who studies in college wishes to have a job that can support them giving them an appropiate salary, why is this not the same case for athletes. “An injury can easily ends an athletes careers and without an education they would be left without nothing” is a point that many people raise but this can also happen in college.
For many people an athlete who plays soccer can only be a player but this idea is wrong there are more jobs related to this sport like head coach, assistant coach, scout and officials (these examples are available in all types of sports). “Students athletes deserve to be recognized as pursuing and legitimate career”.

Should olympic athletes receive a payment?

Some Olympic athletes give their life to sports. They leave a work, study or family life behind to become what they are. But on the other side, many of them are amateur, and these athletes do go to college, have a work or a family, and they practice sports just as a hobby. By this, they have a security income of money, and it is not fare that they receive an additional payment. Professionals in the other hand, they don’t have a secure income. They live for sports and they don’t work, but they are the ones that choose the path of their life. They should now what they are loosing and winning by becoming proffesional athletes. That is why, they shouldn’t receive a payment.

Canadians to be paid for winning Olympic Medals

In this article it talks about how Canadian athletes are going to be paid if they win an Olympic medal. Athletes will receive 10,000 dollars minimum per medal, and a highest amount of money, if they get a higher ranking medal. Like for a bronze they will get 10,000, for silver 15,000, and for medals the highest amount that is 20,000 dollars. This salary program is also a way to compensate high performance of athletes. The Canadian athletes will be paid the same, in all spots of the Olympics and also if it’s team or individual they are competing. “If you want me to go and compete with the world’s best, then I’ve got to be able to train like the worlds best(…)I don’t think I should have to live in poverty in order to accomplish my goals.”

Sponsorship vs Medals and Economy

Most olympic athletes don’t have a direct source of income. The only income most athletes get is from sponsorship but that is only if you are an important competitor. For example Michael Phelps earns around 1 million dollars in sponsorship but he is a very famous athlete. The US paid their olympians around 20,000 for gold medal 15,000 for silver and 10,000 for bronze. Russia is also going to start to pay their olympic athletes.

Olympic athletes work hard training to prepare for the olympics. Traditionally athletes don't get paid as much or don't even get paid as much as professional athletes do. As the athletes spend most of their time training they don't have another job as a source of income. Some of them don't have time to learn because of training and spend most of their money on training.
